Solid Steel (28th March) In the latest instalment, DK has put together a mix unveiling some of the latest gems from the Ninja Tune family of labels. This includes an EXCLUSIVE play of Machinedrum’s stunning remix of 'Runnin’ by Kelis - available on the special, indies-only, limited edition version of her album 'Food', alongside the other remixes in this show from Breach and Will Saul. Then it's the turn of Machinedrum to be remixed by Seafloor, two from NameBrandSound, the VIP mix of 'Hardcourage' from Falty DL, a track from the forthcoming Mr Scruff album 'Friendly Bacteria', Teebs, classic Roots Manuva and two more for Record Store Day, from Illum Sphere and a Psych classic from The Animated Egg, released alongside If Music. All this, plus second spins for Taraval and the Cid Rim produced Theophilus London, previous guest Moresounds, future guests Max Graef and Leon Vynehall, and music from Ferox, PhOtOmachine and Vox Populi.

ColdKrushCuts 3xLP repress now in stock Posted: 13 Sep 2013 12:59 PM PDT Out now via Ninja Tune‘s Beat Delete repress label – the mix PC and I did in 1997 for a face-off between Coldcut and DJ Krush. It’s a triple disc with the mixes on opposite sides of each disc, if you have two decks you can even mix the beginning and end parts together to form the full thing.

Sinoia Caves ‘The Enchanted Persuaded’ album Posted: 27 Jun 2013 10:38 AM PDT Really enjoying this at the moment, by Sinoia Caves aka Jeremy Schmidt, who was also responsible for the soundtrack to ‘Beyond The Black Rainbow’. Said film was flawed but visually and sonically gorgeous, due in no small part to Schmidt’s dark and terrifying electronic score. This album is a lot lighter, much spacier and, with a couple of tracks over the 15 minute mark, much more of a cosmic trip. The 16 minute ‘Dwarf Reaching the Arch Wonder’ is the missing link between Tangerine Dream and Vangelis and wins title of the week by a mile. I’m well behind on this as it was officially released in 2006 (after a self-release in 2002!). I can only hope that the constant fan rumblings for a proper release of the ‘…Black Rainbow’ soundtrack will be heard some day.

Over the past 25 years on Solid Steel, if there's one continent that has been well represented since day one, it's Africa. Coldcut have always dug deep into it's rich musical heritage and Jon More displays another fine selection of Afro beat and African inspired music. It's Bala Miller from Nigeria, Alemayehu Eshete from Ethiopia and Julien Babinga from Congo, plus music from Ocote Soul Sounds, Shina Williams and Troubleman.
