Massive Attack reunite with Tricky and release surprise new EP

A new Massive Attack video featuring the vocals of Tricky has surfaced marking the first collaboration between the artists in over 15 years. Entitled "Take You There," the song is one of the first to emerge from Massive Attack's brand new EP release Ritual Spirit, released today (Jan. 28). Listen to the EP below.

In addition to Tricky, The Ritual Spirit EP features appearances by Mercury Prize-winning Young Fathers and Roots Manuva. Last week, the group launched an app called Fantom that contained unreleased material from the group.

Massive Attack's Blue Lines is arguably one of the most influential records of the 1990s.

On the album the core trio of 3D, Mushroom and Daddy G were often joined by rapper Tricky, who was an unofficial member on several tracks. Tricky also appeared on their subsequent full length Protection but soon left the group's orbit for his own solo career after a rift occurred between him and the group, yielding his own critically acclaimed album, 1995's Maxinquaye.

News of a reconciliation between Massive Attack and Tricky first surfaced in 2009 while the band was readying their album Heligoland for release, but "Take It There" represents their first recordings released since being back on amicable terms. Watch the video below.
