With his Third Rail EP set to drop via the Bass Machine label later this month (February 24, to be exact), Washington producer Zenojim has offered up "Spacebass Thesis" as a preview to the upcoming effort. Here, Zenojim's production takes shape as a cooly textured exercise in swinging garage, one in which the gentle sway of the track's loose chords is dissected by precise drum programming and interlocked layers of miniature percussion.

In the years since his 2010 LP Pop Negro, Pablo Díaz-Reixa (a.k.a. El Guincho) has remained realtively quiet, but that silence will soon be somewhat broken, as we've received news of a forthcoming two-track 12" produced by the artist under his Trances moniker for John Talabot's Hivern Discs.

Austin-based artist Orthy (a.k.a. Ian Orth) recently released his E.M.I.L.Y. EP via Dither Down, dropping four tracks—plus a remix from rising Future Classic affiliate Baio—which expand on the breezy dance-pop sound from his debut record Sueños. Now, LA DJ/producers Daniel Terndrup and Ron Poznansky (a.k.a. Cosmic Kids) have given EP cut "Oasis" a spacey makeover, bolstering Orthy's new tune with whirling rhythms and dancefloor-ready percussion. In addition to "Oasis (Cosmic Kids Remix)," the entire E.M.I.L.Y. EP can be streamed in the player embedded after the jump.

When LOL Boys went on indefinite hiatus towards the tail end of 2012, it was genuinely disappointing. The duo's Changes EP, which had been released only a month prior, had achieved an impressive balance between kitsch and sophistication with its particular brand of chilled-out '90s house influences, jazzy chords, and genuinely affecting guest vocal performances. Nevertheless, fans of LOL Boys have likely taken solace in the flurry of activity from Jerome LOL in the year following the group's separation. Apart from maintaining an active presence as the co-founder of the consistently excellent Body High label, the Los Angeles-based producer has issued a steady stream of free downloads, mixes, compilation tracks, and remixes, all of which have seen him exploring an inventive range of styles, including ambient-leaning tracks, pop edits, and a continuation of the melodic but abstract territory once covered by LOL Boys.

Barcelona-based producer Sinjin Hawke has been keeping his name in XLR8R's headlines quite a bit lately, appearing in our recent profile of his current Spanish residence, sharing his collaboration with L-Vis 1990 for Sound Pellegrino, and dropping the latest installment of his Fractal Fantasy series, the MikeQ-featuring "Thunderscan." And he keeps the streak going today with the appearance of a brand-new mix, the artist's first in two years.

With records for Kompakt, Stroboscopic Artefacts, and his own Perc Trax label accounting for much of his noteworthy discography, Londoner Ali Wells (a.k.a. Perc) has built a solid reputation over the last decade as a bastion of boundary-pushing techno. Presented in full-length form for the first time on 2011's Wicker & Steel LP, the range of Perc's talents have consistently proven to be far-reaching, as the time-tested producer has evolved and touched on a wide array of techno's hybrid sounds over the years. Now, with Perc's sophomore full-length, The Power and The Glory landing on February 17, we've tapped Wells to share with us his five favorite acid cuts—after all, it's a sound that Perc and the Perc Trax imprint have made use of often over the years. Reaching back to some classic UK fare while also citing some more contemporary Midwest tunes, Wells' selections reflect his longstanding love for the squelching pulses of acid house and techno.
