bahia affair Posted: 14 Jul 2014 06:00 AM PDT REdefinition are Mecca:83, Buscrates 16-bit Ensemble and DistantStarr, all friends with a long history of musical collaboration. It was only a matter of time until they came together to form a unit. Influenced by classic brazilian music of the 60′s and 70′s, “Bahia Affair” blends elements of bossa percussion with MPC beats and ample Fender Rhodes licks. Sampled elements remain but play a background role in the mix: providing the accents between live horns and guitar solos that give the project an added organic texture. The EP also features guest spots from the group’s extended family, including vocals from Nardo Says and Sabrina Cuie as well cuts from DJ Omas. To round things off, Rotterdam’s finest beatmaker Moods provides a soulful remix of the EP’s title track to satisfy both beat heads and boom bap fiends alike. Out August 12th, order on Bandcamp, preview after the jump.
