FULL MANIFEST by Kjell Anderson

In messenger work, a manifest is a paper you use to record and track signatures for the jobs you're given. Most contain around 20 jobs, so if you've filled out the manifest it usually means you had a good day. This album was made to reflect a typical day in NYC for me doing this work, with the beats representing what is playing in my mind while the city provides its own unique music around me.

Cosmic Compositions Avant Garde Series Vol.1 [Pharoah Sanders]

Cosmic Compositions Avant Garde Series Vol.1 [Pharoah Sanders] cover art

We feel there is huge similarity's between the Avant-Garde/Free Jazz movement of the 50's & 60's & the beat movement of Today. As both movements attempted to break down, extend & alter the conventions of their original genres (Jazz & Hip Hop) & were never afraid to experiment & improvise to create something that wasn't accepted commercially at the time.

C O S M I C | C O M P O S I T I O N S will be putting together a Series of Compilations dedicated to some of the pioneers of the Avant-Garde Jazz Movement.

The majority of this compilation was produced by beatmakers who strictly sampled Pharoah Sanders.

Gilles Peterson - Worldwide - The Outcast

Gilles Peterson - Worldwide - 2013.06.15

Gilles is joined in the studio by a duo who go by the name of Blludd Relations. Jesse and Nathan are both stalwarts of the London scene, having carved out reputations through their own projects, which include The Owiny Sigoma Band and Bullion, but on this project they join forces, with a long player forthcoming on Deek Recordings. The guys talk about collaborating, and what music they're currently feeling, as well as selecting a couple tracks for a special-edition Secret Waltz Club. Plus, there's new music from Kanye West, Machinedrum, Flying Lotus produced Mac Miller and Boards Of Canada, as well as classics from Horace Silver, Steely Dan and Darondo.
