We're continuing the countdown of the albums that have shaped Gilles Peterson so far. The album this week is Operation: Doomsday by MF Doom.

Released in 1999 on Bobbito Garcia’s label Fondle’Em, Operation: Doomsday was and will remain to be one of those cult classic Hip-Hop albums. The birth, or rather introduction of Metal Face, one of Doom’s many alter-egos opens up the album. The comical, humorous, fantastic world he illustrates as a backdrop to his robust and ever witty presence escalates into total escapism. No use putting it in words, when we’re lucky enough to be able to listen to it!
