LA based artist Gallant is in the middle of a break out year. His latest song, “Weight in Gold,” has racked up over 1 million plays in little more than a month, handpicked as Zane Lowe’s first ‘Future Exclusive’ on his Beats 1 radio show. Showcasing sultry vocals with a beautiful blues instrumental, the track has gone on to pick up plays at BBC Radio 1 and top Hype Machine, referred to by The FADER as inhabiting “a rarefied space somewhere between Leon Bridges’ sweet nostalgia and Miguel’s heavy, riff-soaked take on R&B” In big news, Gallant will be hitting the road this fall as direct support for indie legend Sufjan Stevens. In celebration of that, Gallant is offering a vibed out remix of ‘Weight In Gold’ by Philadelphia producer Louis Futon, who has given the track new life in his own regard.
Louis Futon has been making waves over the past year through a series of official remixes from some of the biggest names in hip-hop ranging from Wiz Khalifa, Mos Def, G-Eazy, Logic amongst more on top of several successful solo releases included a self-titled EP that’s seen millions of plays online since it’s release earlier this year. He was just featured on the latest Bassnectar album with his unexcited collaboration with the man himself. He’s currently in the middle of a summer festival tour with stops already being made at Coachella to Counterpoint to Paradiso amongst many more. He’s set to go on his first headline tour this fall with a special first show that’s already announced in Denver, Colorado at 1UP on August 19th. Signed to the record label Mind of a Genius, who last year revealed Grammy-nominated darling ZHU, Gallant is establishing himself as an artist to watch for the remainder of the year.
