Donato Dozzy remixes Modern Heads’ ‘Beginning

modern-heads-beginning-remixes

Donato Dozzy, Claudio PRC and Giorgio Gigli have remixed the Modern Heads track “Beginning.”

“Beginning” originally dropped as the A-side on Chapter II, a 12-inch released on Outis Music last December. Modern Heads member Dino Sabatini, who also runs Outis Music, has a long-standing connection to the three remixers: they were all core members of Elettronica Romana, the defunct Rome label credited with helping to shape the deep, dark and loopy Italian techno sound. “It all began about ten years ago in a basement in the heart of Rome,” Sabatini explains. “After the return of Modern Heads with Chapter II, memories once again led me to friends I made during the period of the first productions on Elettronica Romana.”

Samples can be heard over at the Outis Music site.

Tracklist
A1 Beginning (Claudio PRC Remix)
A2 Beginning (Giorgio Gigli Remix)
B1 Beginning (Donato Dozzy Remix)

Outis Music will release Chapter II (The Beginning) on October 12th, 2015.

Equal Gives First Taste of Forthcoming EP with “Shakedown”

Just last Friday, NYC’s Equal came through with a fresh new single, “Shakedown” ft. Seja. If you’re not already familiar with this DJ/producer, he’s been on the tour circuit for a while now, playing everywhere from club nights in NYC to the famed major festival Bonnaroo. With an EP coming this fall, Equal decided to unveil the first track off of the release, and it’s this funky disco jam that’s been dubbed “Shakedown.” Listen above and keep tabs on Equal as he has some big collaborations on the way.

Evian Christ explains why he was detained in a cage at Leeds

evian-christ-cage
On Friday, Evian Christ was detained in a cage at Leeds, sharing a cryptic video without any details. He has now explained exactly what happened with a statement on Facebook.

After being unable to find his car after his set, the producer (real name Joshua Leary) was stripped of his credentials before being held in the cage on suspicion of breaking into the festival, where he remained for “a Very Long Time.” Leary was then threatened with arrest but remained calm, contacting his manager and tweeting the video before being let out by a senior member of the security staff “who seemed as bemused as me by the situation.”

Festival organizers have yet to respond to Leary’s emails, although Leeds promoter Melvin Benn has claimed that Leary was intoxicated and refused to identify himself, charges that he denies. Adding insult to injury, Reading organizers reportedly labeled a cage as the Evian Christ backstage area. “Personally i didn’t find this massively appropriate and overall i feel gutted to have had a terrible experience at a festival i attended twice as a kid and was really excited to play.”

“we have big issues with regulation of police and private security services in the uk, nobody should be detained in a cage by an employer because they can’t find their car.”
