Les Sins announces debut LP – shares first single.

Basement Jaxx new album receives a stream from Pitchfork Advance.

Chicago’s congress theater bans “EDM.”

Deadmau5gets ripped off by Trey Songz – tweets about it.

Les Sins

Toro Y Moi’s Chaz Bundick sometimes releases dance music under the name Les Sins. He’s released three 12″ records, and now, he’s ready to release a full Les Sins LP. Michael is out November 4 via Company Records (a new imprint from Bundick and Carpark Records). That’s the album’s first single “Bother” above.

Bundick recorded the mostly-instrumental album in his home studio after the last two years. It features guest vocals from Nate Salman, and it was largely inspired by the late graphic designer Paul Rand.

Basement Jaxx

Basement Jaxx have returned with Junto, the long-awaited follow-up to 2009′s Scars and Zephyr. The duo’s latest effort includes previously-shared cuts “Unicorn” and “Never Say Never”, and arrives August 25 via Atlantic Jaxx/PIAS. Mykki Blanco guests. Listen HERE.

Chicago

All dance music events have reportedly been banned by The Congress Theater in Chicago. Having been shut down in May 2013 after the owner Eddie Caranza hired a development firm to find a new operator, it’s also spent the last year without an alcohol license following an alleged number of issues between security and police. With Carranza still in charge, he’s signed an agreement with the city of Chicago meaning dance music events can no longer take place there, having seen the likes of Skrillex, Steve Aoki and Flosstradamus perform there in the past. Gregory Steadman, the city’s liquor control commissioner, said: “The city wanted [the plan of operation] at that venue because of the historic problems with Congress. The [liquor] license revocation had to do with EDM events there. The community does not want those events there. “We’re not saying EDM are all bad but in venues of this size — 5,000 seats — we don’t feel this is appropriate for the Congress.”

Deadmau5

Deadmau5 has accused r’n'b singer Trey Songz of “infringement” over his one of his remixes.

The subject of the alleged copyright infringement is his 2009 remix of Calvin Harris’ ‘I’m Not Alone’ and the Canadian has accused the singer of ripping him off on his new track ‘Touchin’ Lovin” with Nicki Minaj.
